Tech: Fortified Resin System (FRS)
What is FRS?
Fortified Resin System (FRS) technology combines a fortified super resin with computer-operated curing ovens that provide improved temperature and time management through all stages of the critical curing cycle. This prevents micro-buckling of individual carbon fibers by keeping them in proper alignment.
FRS Applications
Used on all Legend family rods, all Avid family rods, Victory, Premier, all Mojo family rods, Onchor, Eyecon, Panfish, Trout, Bass X, all Triumph family rods, Seage, Rift, Imperial USA, Imperial Salt, Connect, Sole, and X-Trek.
Primary Benefits
“Fiber wash is something that can happen when carbon fibers come out of alignment when a rod blank is cured,” says St. Croix Brand Manager, Ryan Teach. “This can create weak spots in the blank.” St. Croix combats fiber wash with FRS. Blanks manufactured using this advanced manufacturing protocol test significantly stronger than those built with standard resins and curing methods,” Teach adds. “Our use of FRS in combination with our advanced carbon fiber and glass materials represents a quantum leap forward with respect to performance.”
What Does FRS Do?
“For the angler, FRS ultimately means they’re buying a rod that is lighter than ever with dramatically increased strength and durability. Our engineering team has proven and validated these performance enhancements – including up to 33% more strength – in testing,” Teach says.
FRS is just one of many specialized, proprietary technologies and materials that allow St. Croix to handcraft the Best Rods on Earth and deliver on our promise of giving anglers the upper hand during their valuable time on the water.
