Honest Review

It was a fantastic rod while it lasted. I got it in February, and it was super easy to use while traveling, as it came in 3 pieces, and came with a hard case (which was super generous). But sadly, while fluke fishing, it snapped. not at the guide, just snapped in a random place. this is super surprising because I love St. Croix rods and I owned about 3 of them prior to this. They gave me a replacement, but the customer service wait time was upwards of 3 hours. Being a dedicated customer, I waited. The man was super nice, and gave me tons of options to choose from!

I just wished the replacement was paid for :(

Winner!

I bought four other travel rods priced up to $200 trying to find one with a true fast action that fishes like a one piece… I wish I had spent all that money on the avid trek series. I have the 6’6” medium rod and it is everything I was looking for. Yes, it’s a little pricy, but I’ll be buying a 7’ medium avid trek as well, and then I will have a pair of travel rods that suit my needs. Thanks St. Croix for making a phenomenal product (again).

Great travel rod

Been fishing with this rod several time this summer. Landed several nice fish on it and so far have been very impressed with it. It will be going to Florida soon. I bought the M F 7'-0" and its very versatile. Glad to see a manufacturer making good travel rods.

Great rod for traveling. The Medium Light works for all sorts of fish species.

Top section snaps way to easy so loosen the drag; at least it has descent sensitivity

I have over 10K in freshwater rods/reels and a boat load of St. Croix rods. I have 3 treks. The Trek's rod tips break way to easy and although I know I can send it in with $50 fee and get it replaced, knowing how much pressure it took to break it the first time it seems like the engineering is wrong, so not sure I'm even going to mess with it. Big disappointment as I thought for the money it would be a bit tougher. On the positive side the sensitivity is impressive for a 3 piece near the $300 range. However I have over 15 St. Croix's and I've never had another St. Croix break until I tried the Trek. It did work well taking as carry on with Alaska Airlines, but I'm glad I took 5 rods on my trip as the Trek broke on the first snag; could I have been more gentle? of course I could have, but dang this wasn't my first snag in life either. I think the Sockeye I caught a few minutes later would have also snapped it too.
