Really an amazing rod - light, sensitive, and great guides. Only used it a handful of times so I can’t comment to its long term durability yet. So far love it.
Absolutely extraordinary!
I bought the 6'8 MXF for wacky rigged Senkos and more finesse stuff. I have 4 other Legend Elites in spinning rods, but this is my 1st BC rod in the series.
It's stupid sensitive. I was tossing Senkos into my pond & Bluegill where hitting it; the strikes were so harsh, I swear I was hearing it as well. Balance is perfect with a Daiwa Tatula Elite rod. the handle is a bit short. weight is nothing worth complaining about. fit & finish is a work of art.
I have Avid X, Mojo Bass, and victory rods in my baitcasting rod collection and this was a lot more than I expected. I'm highly impressed.
The 7'0" MHF is my rod that is almost entirely used for jig fishing for bass. I throw smaller sized pitching jigs, casting jigs, finesse football jigs, and ball-head finesse jigs with it. I fish it with 12 lb test fluorocarbon and a JDM Daiwa Zillion SV TW. This combo makes me look like I've been good at skipping jigs for years. Absolutely love it. Like many St. Croix rods it has just a little more moderate of an action even with the SCV graphite which is perfect for jigs. It is far and away the most sensitive rod I own. One of the first times I had it out I felt something and set the hook, and I hooked the fish in the back. I literally felt it swimming around my jig.
In a bind it is also good for throwing boot tail swimbaits, soft plastics of most varieties, and spinnerbaits. If you're *really* in a bind you can also get away with throwing a jerkbait (and probably a topwater) on it. I have only caught one fish doing this but it didn't feel like I was going to imminently lose it.
Jigs are my favorite way to go after big bass, so if I were going all out on a rod, it should have been for jig fishing. You can't go wrong with this one.
