Great Rod and Great Customer Service.

In my opinion, the sensitivity and feel is just as good as the higher dollar St. Croix rods. Last summer I was out and broke my rod on a hookset. I stopped in the factory store and they replaced it free of charge. I would highly recommend the premier series and St. Croix rods in general.

Rods are crap: customer service non existant

I have now broken 2 St Croix rods that were recently pirchased. Both broke under light conditions. I submitted a warranty claim in March and they said it would take approx 10 business days. I have heard absolutely nothing back and if you call customer service you will be on hold forever, then will lose patience. Here is the kicker, even if the rod is covered, you need to pay 60.00 to replace the rod anyway. What a joke! 60.00 is clearly below their cost to make the rod, so they actually make money replacing the faulty rod. What a scam. I did not even bother filing a claim on the second rod as it is not worth the 60.00 to replace it! I thought this was a reputable brand, but it is crap all the way around.

Best costumer service ever

My Rod broke on the top, I called St. Croix I had to email pictures to them. Couple weeks later ( I already forgot about it), he called me to let me know they will send me a new rod. I paid 50$ for shipping and packing and had my rod couple days later. I was so positive surprised since normally you have to run after companies to get your stuff situated.

Not like they used to be

So I have a few St. Croix rods that I really like. They are light and sensitive and fun to fish with. This review is more about the company and warranty process than the actual rods themselves. Even though I think the quality has gone downhill on them. I purchased a rod this past summer for my annual fishing trip to Maine. Purchased the same rod that I already have 2 older versions of. On the 3rd day of the trip it breaks setting the hook on a fish. Mind you this is EXACTLY how I have fished the other rods for several years and the rod did not get stepped on, or shut in a door or damaged in any other way. It just broke because it is defective plain and simple. Then I find out that I have to pay $50 for a warranty claim on a rod I just spent $120 on 3 days ago and was clearly defective. Hell $50 is almost half the cost of a brand new rod. So now this rod will cost me $170 AND the warranty department is not helpful, does not contact you in a timely manner (it's been 42 days since I submitted my warranty claim and I still have no timeline of when I will get my new rod). Too many other rod companies out there to stick with one that does not actually honor their warranty and take customer service seriously.
