Disappointed

This rod performs well overall but unfortunately easily has the smallest guide set of any rod I have ever owned, St Croix or otherwise. This makes stringing up time consuming and reduces casting distance as the line coiling off the spinning reel slams into the too small guides. Have to believe the guides could have easily been one to two sizes larger without materially affecting the price or weight.

Best Rod on Earth

6'10" MLXF .. I fish more than 100 days a year and my target species of choice is walleye. I own more St Croix rods than any one person should own. I typically get rods for very specific situations. This rod is easily the best rod that I have ever fished. I own a couple st croix rods that are "better" but this being number 3 of their "big 3" is crazy to say. This rod is balanced so perfectly and so comfortably designed, paired with a Shimano Vanford, can be used all day with no worries. If you can find a better rod than this, please let me know! Out of hundreds, it's the best I've found. This truly may be the best rod on earth.

7’0” MHF2, 7’6” MLXF2 & 7’6” MF

I own several St. Croix rods from different series and use them for panfish to salmon and steelhead; I also own several high-end rods from other manufacturers too.

The Legend Elite 7’0” MHF2 is a great all-purpose rod. I love it for 5” senkos and jerkbaits like the Vision 110 and X-raps. The rod is so sensitive and feels so great when setting into a fish.

The Legend Elite 7’6” MLXF2 is my favourite rod by far. I use it almost exclusively now for throwing Ned rigs (1/16-1/8oz. heads) but have used it for 4” senkos, drop shot rigs, small swimbaits and even hair jigs - although not my favourite use for this rod. I’ve caught smallmouth, largemouth and walleye on it.

The Legend Elite 7’6” MF is great for longer reaching casts with anything really. I love throwing 5” senkos on it, lipless cranks and dragging tubes. Great for throwing spinners too.
