It was a great gift for a fathers 80th birthday sadlled with a Pflueger reel, now he will catch the walleyes like I do with the one I bought previously for my self, the sensitivity is second to none and the action still leaves power to land the bigger Walleyes. Great rod, just wish I could gat the new series but people keep buying them out of stock. I will be back to check......
Have multiple eye cons. All are great rods
I was extremely excited to get my new Eyecons - I bought 2. Sadly, the excitement wore off pretty quickly. Both rods busted near the tip on garden variety smallmouth. I give this a 2 because their customer service was great. They took care of me in a reasonable amount of time, no questions asked. If it wasn't for the service, I would give it a 1 star. Of the 2 rods they replaced, I had the same issue with 1 of them. The other is still in 1 piece - we'll see how long that lasts. There are those that would say I don't know how to treat my rods. For those questioning, I have 2 Bass X, 1 Triumph, 1 Premiere, and 2 Reign (plus a Fenwick Eagle) that I have fished with for numerous years and had 0 problems with any of them. I will purchase St Croix rods again but never another Eyecon.
I wade fish for walleye, saugeye and sauger. I bought the 8' ML Fast action for working light jigs while being waist deep in the water. Perfection. It's so light you can work it all day, and plenty of back one for the larger fish. I use 6 lb test, and was able to land a 32 pound flathead cat this summer. Was a long slow battle, but the eyecon still stands strong.
