IPC ART FRS TETMy wife gifted me the 5'6" for our anniversary and I took it to my favorite river this morning. The technology St. Croix has used on this rod is unbelievably light, sensitive and absolutely "The Best Rod on Earth". It holds fish with a perfect flex and action. It has ruined me for life. I highly recommend and thank you St. Croix for being my partner in crime for over 40 years now. Tight lines and Godspeed!
I've own the first gen trout series rods for a while that doubled well for stream trout and panfish. Ended up buying two of those and ran it for a few years and just figured it was time for something more serious. Glad St Croix finally offered the option since it was hard to find many choices for a high end panfish specific rod.
Bought the 6'9" and threw on a 2000 vanford with 4lb nanofil and 4lb fluoro leader and I was in love. First outing and I couldn't believe the sensitivity I was experiencing. Casted phenomenally with the perfect load on light jigs and bobber where you didn't have to force your cast because the rod did all the casting for you. I was able to detect bites I never imagined on small 4-5" sunnies that usually steal your bait, and literally hooked every one. I've caught 3-4lb smallmouth on it with accidental snags from 8lb+ carp and its handled all of them. Loved the combo so much, I saw someone post another 6'9 for sale on Facebook and hopped on it. Now I own 2 of them and think they are worth every penny. Might be one of the few rods I own (over 30 if them) where I feel is actually worth every penny.
I got this rod (7’ light) a couple of months ago to replace my panfish series rod. As a former custom rod builder; this is the best commercially produced rod I have ever felt compared to an NRX and my legend inshore. The action is perfect for pretty much everything. It is super lightweight, balances perfectly with my 1000 vanford, and it handles BIG fish. It has plenty of backbone and a soft enough tip to cast small lures very far. For me, this rod has the perfect balance of backbone and tip. The biggest fish on this is a 43” king salmon. I’ve caught my pb coho (13lbs) and pb rainbow (27”) with this as well. I am now buying a 1000 stella to complete this setup and I am considering buying another one. If you’re a serious fishermen that loves catching monster fish with the lightest tackle possible, I cannot imagine a better rod than this. PS I am considering replacing the running guides (yes i know they’re torzite with titanium frames) with titanium recoils for reducing weight and increasing durability.
I decided to splurge after Great performance from the panfish series. This rod is worth every penny! Incredible sensitivity and my go to for vertical jigging for crappie here in Georgia and adjoining states from May to December. I fish a LOT and have caught way over a thousand crappie on this rod along with the occasional big catfish or hybrid encounters. Would recommend to anyone and know it would be an amazing trout rod too.
I've used this rod for 2 years and had to get used to its exceptional sensitivity, I literally was setting the hook a hair to soon and has become my favorite bass rod though it's a little too light around cover but in open water I've got a chance and have landed bass up to 6 pounds and 3 channel cat over 10lbs this summer, brothers its a blast and I highly recommend it and I'm going get another stcroix but a this one will be a medium light 7 and a half and those pigs I lost this spring are in big trouble 😀👍
