"I've been using the same rod brand for 10+ years and they recently changed blanks (again), so I figured I'd try St. Croix since they make their own blanks and are probably more consistent in actions/powers over the long haul. I hate change. Anyways, 70% of my rods are 7'3" MH, fast action, so I started there. I purchased the LTB from Tackle Warehouse as soon as their Labor Day deals kicked in. The LTB was noticeably heavier than what I'm used to, the balance point with my Curado MG150s was 6. 5 inches in front of the reel seat, and the overall experience was a very unbalanced rod/reel feel. Sad part is, I really like the action and backbone of the LTB, and the build quality is excellent. I can see why people like them based solely on that. Maybe if I used heavier reels they would balance better. Anyways, a rod is part of a system, and how that system works and feels is highly subjective. Personally, the LTB doesn't work in my system, especially when the price is about $100 more than my old rods (granted, I get a sizeable discount as a long-time customer). Guess I'll just have to give the new blanks a try and hope they weren't changed too much."
