I was an early adopter of the Legend surf back in 2009 ad since that time I have tried just about all surf rods from other manufacturers including Lamiglas, Century , ODM, CTS , Black Hole etc.. and I can say with 100% certainty that nothing performs on the same level as the Legend surf and I'm specifically referring to the moderate fast versions.
It's an absolutely incredible rod , ridiculously light , throws further than any other rod out there in the same length and is super responsive .
I choose to buy the blanks now that they are available because the guide train that the Legend surf rod currently utilizes uses guides that are way way way too large for getting optimal performance with lighter braids.
Nobody should be using over 20 pound braid for any type of surf fishing anyway unless you're fishing for large sharks.
I own seven Legend Casting rods, and after surfcasting all over the world—from Montauk to Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil, Costa Rica, and beyond—I keep coming back to this rod. I’ve tried just about everything: high-end customs like Century , Breakaway, Loomis, and paired them with reels from Daiwa, Shimano, Abu, and more. Still, the Legend stands apart.
It’s a true all-purpose workhorse. The components are top-notch and built to last. The balance and feel in hand are excellent, and the pulling power is incredible. Fighting a fish with this rod is an experience in itself—the responsiveness and control are second to none.
When it comes to pure casting distance, you might find rods that edge it out. But honestly, why bother? Most anglers don’t even cast correctly to take advantage of that extra margin. For me, the Legend delivers everything I need—and more—making it my go-to rod no matter where in the world I fish.

Awesome Rod
Best surf rod on the market ! I’ve got several St Croix rods for catfish and bass fishing . I’ve got the 8’ mojo cat , mojo surf 10’ , 11’ avid surf , 10’6†legend tournament surf , 8’6†premier musky rod , and 7’1†legend tournament bass rod . And in my opinion this legend surf rod is by far the best rod I’ve ever used for catching 50lb catfsih off the banks of the Ohio River and pay lakes , also this rod gives me the ability to throw my baits so far out in the distance compared to my other catfish rods from places like rippin lips , and penn surf rods , catch the fever , and so on . The premier would be the best rod for the cost , I just wish they made it in a longer length than the 8’6†like I’ve got now , so stepping up to the legend surf rod for the longer length was def worth it , and it’s super sensitive , and all around a world class rod that you can order online and not have to have custom built ! St croix rods are all you’ll ever see me using when I’m out fishing !
