"My cousin got me this rod 10 years ago and my dog broke an eye/guide on it. I was able to get the eye fixed, but I figured I buy the exact same rod. The replacement rods weight, sensitivity and strength was an absolute upgrade. I decided to matched this rod with the Abu Garcia Revo Rocket 30 Spinning Reel and they're a perfect match for each other. I couldn't have picked a better rod, now I have two of the same rods the fit my fishing needs. I say it was an absolute score. Joe A"

Broken Tip on both rods

"I used the SCPC70MHF for less than a year before the rod broke about 14" from the tip. I thought it was a fluke since St Croix is known for making great rods. They replaced the rod and less than a year later the same thing happened when I set the hook in a walleye. I called customer service and asked about others having the same issue with the rods breaking. They denied that there were any other issues, however, after reading other reviews, I am now seeing that this is a common occurrence. I don't know what happened at St. Croix, but the quality of rods they are producing is nothing like it was 20-30 years ago."

Broken top Section x2

"Used the Priemer PS66MHF2 rod for walleye and Pike fishing and broke the top section on 2 separate occasions of less then 20 days of total use. 1st time was casting (1/4 oz jig) from a boat and top section just above the guide broke, paid the $60 and got a replacement. Second break was retrieving a Northern Pike approximately 6lbs from behind the boat and the replacement top section broke in the same location. This should be considered a manufactured defect that St Croix should fix at there cost and not mine. $60 for each warranty fee x2 this rod now costs (initial cost) $280 +60 +60 = $400 = too much for an unreliable fishing rod, I upgraded to hopefully a better rod, Time will tell. I DO NOT recommend this line of rods. I have lots of Eyecon rods and I love them just not fond of paying fees for company R&D."

"I ordered this rod using the same numbers from my old rod. They are completely different rods. My old rod was stiffer and has a much faster action. This rod is a wet noodle. I’m very disappointed that I can’t replace my older rod."

Quality is Not What it Once Was

"Will most likely never buy a St. Croix rod again. Casting one last year with a 1/32 jig in and the rod broke in the middle of the last eyelet and second to last. Today I reeled in a crappie with my jig and rig walleye series and as I was reeling it in this one broke in the same spot. They expect you to pay a $60 fee for there failed product. Would not recommend St. Croix fishing rods. Only reason it gets on star is it is required to give a star rating."
