Fish Quietly and Carry a Short Stick

St. Croix Adds 18" Rod to the Avid Glass Ice Series

Park Falls, WI (Oct. 2, 2015) Youre hunkered over a 4-inch hole, one hand shielding the glare of the sun, the other clutching your new 18-inch St. Croix Avid Glass. Your eyes panning, gazing deep into the vegetation, searching for signs of life. The ice pounds loudly as it expandsboom, boom, boomno wait, thats your heart. A flash of movement and a familiar sliver, white and black speckled prize glides past your lure. Steadyyou twitch your line ever so slightly, WHACK! Another slab in the books...

Theres nothing better than the thrill of sight-fishingespecially with a St. Croix in your palm.

Youll see and feel the difference in all four models of Avid Glass Ice. Their premium Xtreme-Flex solid glass blanks are super-strong yet softer and more flexible than carbon fiber, making bites easy to detect without the aid of a spring bobber.

The carbon handle is designed from very light materials that help transfer energy and vibrations making it super-sensitive, said Jason Brunner, St. Croix Rods Director of Engineering. The rigid handle also keeps the blank from flexing back into your hands when fighting fish. This gives the angler more control and power.

The 18-inch Avid Glass Ice also features a Kigan striper guide and low profile running guides. Keeping the guides close to the blank allows line to travel with reduced resistance when the blank flexes.

The 18inch Avid Glass Ice is a perfect rod for sight-fishing panfish or fishing in tight spaces, explained Jeff Schluter, Vice President of Brand Management at St. Croix. The entire Avid Glass Ice rod series is popular because they're simple to use, effective and great fun to fish with such super-flexible blanks.

Designed and built in Park Falls, Wisconsin, the Avid Glass Ice rod series retails for $50 and come with a 1-year warranty backed by St. Croix Superstar Service.
