Broken Reel Seat

I have 12 St. Croix rods and have never had a problem with them until my Victory Rod. I ordered the rod in November 2022, didn’t use the rod till April of 2023. I had used the rod 3-4 times before I notice the reel was starting to loosen up. I figured the nut had backed off so I tightened it and the whole reel seat disintegrated. I contacted St Croix to let them know what happened and they told me I need to send the rod back to them. Okay, no problem. I asked for a return label, I was told I have to pay to ship the rod to them so they can inspect it. If the rod is found to be defective, I have to pay to ship the rod back to me. What?! I have spent literally thousands of dollars on St. croix rods and have to pay to ship a rod that was manufactured poorly? I had an issue with a Lews rod breaking and they sent me a new rod no questions asked. I’m sorry to say this will be my last St. Croix rod.

Heavy power fast action.
I purchased this rod for large swim baits. I have owned it now for 3 weeks. Hookups have went through the roof! This rod has a great back bone for setting the hook and powering in the fish. I set , load the rod, reel , reel , and reel until fish is at the boat. Great, great rod ! I body surfed a 4 lb Bass in this past weekend. High torque reel on this SB Ranger and your surfing fish in lol. Only happened one time though. Put a smile on my face.

I'm really liking this rod a lot. It's great for 1/4-1/2oz chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, bigger square bills, lipless, and it's surprisingly been a great rod for 5/8oz wake baits. I had to get used to casting with a moderate action rod, but once I did this sucker casts very well. It's a very comfortable rod to fish.

The Jerk

Their jerkbait rod is absolutely fantastic. It loads up flawlessly, and being 6'8, it's super easy to work. Throwing 3/8oz lures without a weight transfer system, you might need to adjust the setting on your reel, and it'll throw Vision 110s, and 110jr's perfectly, along with many Lucky Craft 3/8oz and 1/2oz jerkbaits. Now, The Ito Shiners are a bit much for this rod, and 5/8oz jerkbaits slightly overload it. I'd recommend sticking with 3/8oz-1/2oz jerkbaits, non deep diving, and you'll have and fantastic experience.
