Ice Rod Strike Indicator System
Illustration No. 1
St. Croix’s strike indicator system is adjustable, so its sensitivity level can accommodate different lure sizes. To make the bobber more sensitive, push the spring forward through the grommet. To make it less sensitive, push it back. NOTE: This is a two-hand procedure; pulling separately on either side could damage the spring.
Illustration No. 2
The system is most sensitive when there is a 30-degree bend (position 2) in the spring, To find the bottom, lower the jig until the indicator returns to position 1. Then, either slowly reel up once or lift the rod slightly until the indicator is back to position 2.
To keep the indicator secured when not in use, never cut the jig off from the line. Push the spring out to the more sensitive position and hook the jig on the hook keeper. Next, tighten the line by gently reeling it up until the tip of the rod is slightly bent.
To change the spring to a different one (four different spring tensions - sold separately - are available), push it through so it's flush with the grommet. Then, using a pen, push it even further out. Next, hold the spring as close as possible to the grommet and gently pull it out. Install a different spring by pushing it into the grommet.
